Trip to MIAD

At the trip to MIAD I saw what the real world of art starts to look like. I enjoyed the tour of the school and being able tot see everyones work spaces and their final peices along with some unfinished work. This is one of the pieces that we walked by in the maze of halls and it was also posted on the schools website.

One of the things that I liked about the school was how everyones work is placed from hall to hall, so no matter where you walk you are seeing other peoples peices of work. these were some portraits people had done, not full scale projects, but quality drawings done on small sheets of paper. Sometimes I find these more interesting than final pieces.

One thing that I saw while touring was inventions being considered art. Students had to make full page laminated descriptions of their invention and show the uses and prototypes made for it. This  opened my mind up to whole new uses of illustration and design.

As I walked through the halls of MIAD I came across many interesting things. What appealed to me were the individual work rooms set up for the kids. They’re walls were filled with projects and incomplete art that gave each room a distinctive look to it. I felt that these were almost like home for most of these students. The only other time that I have seen anything close to this is at our school in the art room. It reminds me of the Eames offices where it was a factory for some of the best designers and artists in America. I chose to photograph art that popped to me. These three pictures are a part of each students work area. The first was in the work space of a student, the second is a huge illustration poster with many forms of font and design working with space(hard to see because it is blurry), and the third were some colorful party hats that were being used as a still life.
